The “Boycott Our Enemies, Not Israel” Act

Introduced by Doug Lamborn and Ron DeSantis wants federal gov to be required to certify that they are not participating in any boycotts against Israel. The bill also includes penalties for false certification, including permanently banning a company from doing business with the government.

the aim was

“thwart efforts by Palestinian organizations to pressure different corporations, companies and educational institutions to boycott, divest, and sanction Israel.”

“The BDS movement represents a disgraceful attempt to single out Israel for punitive treatment,”

Ein Gesetzentwurf sieht vor, dass die US-Regierung sich verpflichtet, sich nicht an sog. Israel-Boykotten zu beteiligen, sondern ganz im Gegenteil Firmen, die sich an solchen Boykotten beteiligen von Regierungsaufträgen ausschließt. Aufrufe zum Boykott Israels oder israelischer Waren gibt es seit einiger Zeit von diversen Gruppen, die freilich nicht mutig genug sind, mit Intel-Prozessoren oder ähnlicher in Israel entwickelter Technologie zu beginnen, was konsequent wäre. Stattdessen richten sie sich etwa gegen Obst aus Israel (haben aber z.B. kein Problem mit solchen aus dem Iran)
